Gone away

My new nest may not be totally complete, but you can still follow me to The Perfect Binge. A fresh new start seemed just the thing!

Recent etsy purchases

I've had a spate of etsy purchases lately and thought I'd share.

This print was perfect for my sister's 36th birthday. She frequently can use some cheering up, and this can't hurt. Pls its as pretty as can be! Its called Dot to Dot Blossoms with Bird by HadleyHutton.

Another friend of mine had me and the husband over for dinner not to long ago. This lady has the prettiest coziest house ever. Throughout she has grogeous little trinkets inspired by the natural world. I couldn't resist sending her these darling felted acorns by truLuxe.

I'm co-hosting a baby shower in April for a friend of mine. We've decided on a sweet lil tea party and these invites by Cheerupcherup were perfect.

Notice I haven't indulged in a darn thing for myself. Hmmmm....maybe next time.

Flowers and celebrations

I finally added some new flowers to Bandit Queen (which stupid blogger won't let me share pictures of). Guess you'll have to check them out in the shop.

And today's my birthday! I'm gonna sit on my porch with the hubby and pooches and eat pizza to celebrate. The actual party is Saturday. Cheers!

Speaking of talents

I know I'm frequently raving about Kristen's design talents, but how cool are the new business cards she did for our shop? I think they were the perfect background for the vintage clip on earrings I found over the weekend.

Blushing

So a while back I wrote about a fabulous new Somerset Studio magazine called Artful Blogging. The folks there found my comment and asked permission to use. I said sure and promptly forgot about it. Well, flash forward to Saturday when I was wandering through a craft store and spotted it on the magazine rack. They actually used my post in the comment section!
Cool, right? However, I'd posted about how I was gonna prettify my blog. That hasn't really really happened so well yet in the chaos of moving but I've got a fresh inspiration and accountability now. I did manage to go get myself a pretty new camera using my etsy earnings so far. Those earnings really only paid for half the cost of the camera - but still half!
And I took a pretty picture. Enjoy!

And in the interest of prettification, Ms. Kristen is gonna do me up a fabulous new banner. So expect prettyness! And while you're waiting on it to happen here, there's always other people's prettyness to be found at our So Sweet and So Cold blog.

Vintage cool

Now I usually don't blather on too much about my etsy shop, but this is really too cool not to share. I got my hands on a McCalls Fashion Magazine from the 70s all about embroidering your wardrobe. And the pictures in it are amazing. Here's my favorites:

I have it listed in Kristen and I's vintage shop - Miriam and Eleanor. I think I'll be putting up a bunch of vintage postcards soon too.

We've done a huge update to our vintage shop over at MiriamandEleanor. I'm so excited about our recent finds!

Now if only I'd get cracking on my other shop.

Swapping!

At long last, I've sent out my package for the garden swap over at A Little Sussy. Since the recipient doesn't know I have a blog, I'm free to go ahead and post a picture of what's being sent. (I'm impatient like that).

Gina is into flower gardening. She's a teacher who likes books and lives in New York. So what do you send such a lady? Here's what I put together:
- 4 packets of flower seeds (3 of them good for cut flowers)
- A cute vase to put cut flowers in
- A felt flower made by yours truly to put in the cute vase while waiting for the first flowers of spring to go ahead and bloom already.
- Some vintage flowery postcards
- Two gardening memoirs by Dominique Browning - Around the House and in the Garden and Paths of Desire
- Pretty photo notecards by my ever so talented husband (available for purchase on his etsy shop - In The Sun Studio)

I hope she likes her package!

Fleur de lis

I couldn't resist featuring one of our listings over at the MiriamandEleanor shop on etsy. This fleur de lis planter was such a lucky find. (The birdy was a great find too - too great to let go of him. But he does look great next to the pretty planter).

Miriam and Eleanor

Besides just working on sosweetandsocold together, Kristen and I love to shop the resale shops. Finding too many wonderful things that either a. don't fit us or b. we don't have room for has led to yet another project. Announcing (da da da da dum) MiriamAndEleanor - our brand new shop full of vintage goodies. Named after two very stylish grandmums, we're really excited about this excuse to hit even more shops.

Bandit Queen

Kristen made me my very own super cool banner for my brand new etsy shop.

She's incredibly talented. If you need a super cool banner too, pay her a visit. Her prices are ridiculously low for her skillz.

I'm thrilled!

Etsy shop started!

I finally did it and opened my very own etsy shop. Bout time too! My husband has had a bit of success as has my friend Kristen.

I've started with some masks, but I'll be adding garlands and artwork too. I simply don't have the focus required to stick to one type of thing.

Here's what's listed so far:

I need to redo some of those photos. I was just so excited to be ready that I didn't spend enough time on fussing with the photos. I have more masks in the works.

Did I mention how much I lurve Halloween? I'm excited. Plus getting this shop started is on my list.

so sweet and so cold

My friend Kristin and I have started a blog together - cause there just aren't enough out there I guess! We send eachother cool etsy finds several times a day. Instead of hunting through old emails for cool stuff sent days ago, we've decided to start compiling our finds in a new blog all about etsy prettiness. The blog can be found at so sweet and so cold.

I'm not losing this blog - just branching out a wee bit. Check it out!

Etsy News

My boy has put up an etsy shop! He's calling it In The Sun Studio and he's got about a dozen of his photographs up there. Very exciting! One day I'll figure out something I'm good at enough to sell.

Here's his shop - In The Sun Studio.

And here's one of my favorites of his shots:

Etsy Purchase!

I recently purchases this fab painting from Stiletto Heights shop on etsy. I love it!

Its called Her Gypsy Soul. Perfect, right? The artist also has a terrific blog at http://stilettoheights.blogspot.com.
Now I just have to decide where she's gonna live...
