How to Ruin a Painting
Remember this?
I ruined it. I thought it was too dull, and had the genius idea to do a silhouette over top of it in a translucent gold. Seemed like a good idea at the time...
Well the goldish silhouette just looked like a dirty smudge. (Note to self - Freezer paper stencils don't work so great over painted canvas). So I decided that I would just modge pode the silhouette cut out over the painting as a last minute attempt to salvage it. Here's the awful results:

Blech! Oh well - it was a learning experience.

Painting and Old Toys
Here's my most recent painting. Its not done, but I have a plan! I think a silhouette done in a faint wash of color over it would look cool. Will update when it is done! Right now it looks too much like a 70's placemat for my taste.
And look what I found in the top of my parent's bard. Fashion plates! I loved these when I was little and I'll love them even more now. Fun!

Etsy Purchase!
I recently purchases this fab painting from Stiletto Heights shop on etsy. I love it!

Its called Her Gypsy Soul. Perfect, right? The artist also has a terrific blog at http://stilettoheights.blogspot.com.
Now I just have to decide where she's gonna live...

Paintings
Okay, I'm not showing the finished finished projects (for reasons explained below), but here's the canvases I've been working on. I'm pretty pleased with them.
Here's a work in progress. I like the bright colors and the shapes (these are very similiar to my doodles when I'm bored).
The more complete one refuses to load so maybe I'll try to post it again tomorrow. They're no where near as ornate or as cleanly done as the ones that inspired me, but I'm having fun doing them. They'll look cute in my hallway.
