Gone away

My new nest may not be totally complete, but you can still follow me to The Perfect Binge. A fresh new start seemed just the thing!
Artwork above by handmadeonpeconicbay. Isn't it lovely and tempting?

So perhaps I need a scanner

Cause taking pictures of paintings is hard. But this was my creation for the week before Thanksgiving. The week of the holiday, an awful cold, family obligations, and busyness, kept me from creating anything.

I'm really fond of this lil guy though. Not sure if he'd be a good addition to my etsy shop though, but I'm pondering it.

Creating one thing a week

That's the new goal anyway! Perhaps another goal needs to be improve my photography skills cause this photo of it stinks. Anyway, I've managed to create something brand new to the world for two weeks in a row. Here's the first. It's a mixed media picture. I'll post the second week's creation as soon as I can do it some justice in taking its picture.

Recent Productions

Here's what I've been up to. This flower painting-ish thingy was fun to do even if it looks little kid-like.

And this is what I'm calling my sad monkey. Done for my sister in law at her request, it looks dreadful. Worse than dredful really. But I don't have the time to make a new one before our visit so she's getting it anyway.

How to Ruin a Painting

Remember this?
I ruined it. I thought it was too dull, and had the genius idea to do a silhouette over top of it in a translucent gold. Seemed like a good idea at the time...

Well the goldish silhouette just looked like a dirty smudge. (Note to self - Freezer paper stencils don't work so great over painted canvas). So I decided that I would just modge pode the silhouette cut out over the painting as a last minute attempt to salvage it. Here's the awful results:

Blech! Oh well - it was a learning experience.

Pretty Art

Two artists discovered in two days through my addiction to design blogs.

The first is Maija Fiebig (found via Design*Sponge).

And the second is Bailey Saliwanchik (found via decor8).

Pretty pretty!

Wall Art

First a disclaimer - I had nothing to do with this one. All credit goes to the amazing Mr. Char. A while back he put up some CD case wall art a la ReadyMade. The landscape picture he used was cool, but there were some errors in putting it in and it wasn't very colorful. This week he swapped out the landscape for another one of his pictures, a closeup of some sunflower petals.

And yes, it is huge and colorful. Its perfect for our living room. A room that is gonna look even better thanks to a tip from Marissa! She told me that the birdcage curtains we both adore were on sale. Now I have two panels of this loveliness wafting its way to me.

If you want them for yourself, look here.

CD Case Art

This was all my husband's work. The project is from the ReadyMade book. The photograph is his own.

He accidentally flipped a few of the panels, but it doesn't show too much with a big landscape like this. And he'll be able to change the picture when he likes cause they're just velcroed to the wall. Best part is that he's using CD cases which is something that cannot be recycled. We've had lots of compliments and some friends even want him to come over and install something similiar in their own homes.

The light isn't great in the picture, but you get the idea. Here's the link to rasterbate a picture. For project instructions, you'll want to check out this book.
