Ooooh

If Santa's reading, then I want this. (I really should know better than to go on the Anthropologie site.)

So pretty

Can I admit to wanting this dress very much? Cause I do. And also this blazer. And this sweater vest in green or polka dots.
I blame it all on holiday shopping that gets me looking at too many temptations.

I bought a new dress - 3 new dresses actually!

I got this lovely thing from Banana Republic. Its so comfy and cute!

And then a black and white plaid jumber and a pretty blue and gold dress from Target (can't find pictures of either of those on their website for some reason). Kristen was my co-conspirator. She kept saying how buying a dress was like getting a shirt AND pants but cheaper since its a complete outfit.
Now I just need some cute flats....

Pretties

Love this look from the L'Wren Scott spring collection. Spotted it on Shiny Squirrel's site.

And these dresses from the Derek Lam collection were posted on A Dress A Day. Absolutely stunningly beautiful! And with pockets!

And of course not all my clothes-looking is at strikingly unaffordable designer clothes. This look from flickr's wardrobe remix is so cute and wearable. Wonder if my tj max is carrying that plaid skirt?

Wardrobe Overhaul

My look is in need of some serious help. I need to work harder at this. I have things in my closet from 12 years ago! Things I would like to incorporate into the new improved me:

  • Scarves - I love how they look on many women. I can do that too!
  • Some new hairstyles - I have two looks. My hair is either down or in a ponytail. Sad.
  • Some retro maybe even rockabilly-ish pieces to mix into my clothes.
  • New makeup techniques
  • More dresses! - They are so easy. No thinking involved. I just need to have them in my closet so I can throw the suckers on and go.

Now if I only had the funds to go on a big shopping spree and get me some new items. I guess this may be a slow process, but I can start by purging my closet and keeping my eyes and mind pen at the thrift shops.

So you are warned that I'll be posting many pictures of clothes and looks I like. It helps my ideas percolate.

More inspiration! I spotted this dress on flickr. She made it from a pattern found at her local goodwill. Cute, original looking pieces like this are another reason I need to keep practicing on the sewing machine. (and looking at that dress, getting familiar with my pilates tapes again wouldn't hurt either).

You can see more of her clothes on Flickr.

I did cut out the pieces for a turtle puppy for another nephew. I think he'll come together pretty easy unless I keep making it harder by adding ideas to it. I'll share some progess pictures tonight. I'm making him and the kitty to go with out of kids flannel fabrics which is pretty fun to work with after all that grey corduroy I used for the robot. These ones are very bright.

And I watched Marie Antoinette last night. Pretty! That's the best description for it - pretty, pretty, pretty! And I often find Kirsten Dunst a little on the annoying side (especially in that one movie where she had a southern accent and played a flight attendant. Bleh!). But she was perfect in this one. And oh my the costumes and sets were spectacular.

First Post and Stenciled Tees

I've decided to start a craft blog which is exactly where you're at. I thought it would give me some incentive for actually completing some of the many projects I start. My husband refers to our spare room as "the place where crafts go to die." Pretty accurate at the moment, but I'm gonna change all that.

So far I've dabbled in beading, paper mache, knitting (pathetically), and other random projects. I'd like to play around more with these kinds of crafts as well as learn to sew (really really badly), cross stitch (subversively), and make interesting artwork. This is gonna record my efforts - bad and good.

First to start out on a positive note, I think I'll share something that turned out well.

These freezer paper stencils are so much fun to make! And so easy.

This one says, "Chuck Norris doesn't sleep. He waits."

And this one is the prettiest pair of jackelopes I've ever seen:

Tutorial and a mad amount of stencils can be found here:
